The money will be used to offer two external information sessions (and one internal) within Toronto concerning the safety issues that seniors face. This is the first time these two organizations have worked together in this way. We really appreciate OSS\u2019s monetary support and we look forward to bringing you this high quality program.<br \/>\n<strong>&lt; Lunch\u2019n Learn with the Wynford Seniors Club, Oct 4 &gt;<\/strong><br \/>\nThe first information session, Lunch\u2019n Learn with the Wynford Seniors Club, is a special meeting of the Hot Lunch program and will be held on Wednesday October 4<sup>th<\/sup>, 2017 at the Japanese Canadian Culture Centre from 11am to 1:30pm. You will be able to listen to the presentation, \u201cKeeping Yourself Safe as an Older Person\u201d then enjoy a tasty meal of sushi and miso soup. Professionals who have been dealing with the issues elderly people and caregivers face will be on hand to answer any questions you might have, as well as a translator so that everyone\u2019s concerns can be understood. JSS social workers and counsellors will also be available to point you in the direction of further information, resources and services should you have a need.<br \/>\nThis information session is available to anyone who would like to participate, however space is limited and will be restricted to those who have registered in advance.\u00a0 Please contact Chie, the Community Outreach Coordinator for the JSS at (416) 385-9200 or <a href=\"mailto:programs@jss.ca\">programs@jss.ca<\/a> for more information and to register. Special thanks to Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre for their generous support.<br \/>\n<strong>&lt; Seniors Conference \u2013 A Day of Learning, Oct 14 &gt;<\/strong><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><br \/>\nThe second information session, Seniors Conference \u2013 A Day of Learning will be held on Saturday October 14<sup>th<\/sup>, 2017 at Momiji Health Care Society from 11am to 3:30pm.\u00a0 After the opening remarks, there will be a presentation, \u201cKeeping Safe as an Older Person\u201d followed by a break for a light lunch with entertainment.\u00a0 In the afternoon, you can choose two formal seminars to attend, in the language of your choice.<br \/>\nVarious community agencies such as Community Care Access Centre (CCAC), geriatric nurses, estate lawyers, physiotherapists, the Alzheimer\u2019s Society and the Mount Sinai Health Team will provide talks on such topics as <em>How to Connect with Community Resources; Managing life with Arthritis and Osteoporosis; What you need to know about Power of Attorneys and Will; Home Exercise; Understanding the risk factors for dementia and maintaining a healthy brain<\/em> and <em>How to access online information, community and support. <\/em><br \/>\nThis information session is available to anyone who would like to participate.
