\nSince the pandemic began, we have been as busy, if not more<\/span><\/span>\u00a0so<\/span><\/span>, re<\/span><\/span>s<\/span><\/span>ponding to the comm<\/span><\/span>unity need<\/span><\/span>s<\/span><\/span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0In April, we have delivered food and other items generously donated by\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Oomomo<\/span><\/span>, a Japanese variety store, to our client families.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Oomomo<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>again contacted us in May, this time with an offer of mask donations<\/span><\/span>. The masks\u00a0<\/span><\/span>are in the process of being delivered to our senior clients in need.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>
\n\"\"As face coverings have quickly become an essential tool in our dail<\/span><\/span>y lives<\/span><\/span>\u00a0likely for a foreseeable future<\/span><\/span>\u00a0and disposable masks in short supply<\/span><\/span>, a group of JSS volunteers\u00a0<\/span><\/span>(<\/span><\/span>remotely<\/span><\/span>)<\/span><\/span>\u00a0got toge<\/span><\/span>ther to\u00a0<\/span><\/span>form a pilot project to\u00a0<\/span><\/span>produce hand-made, reus<\/span><\/span>able facial masks<\/span><\/span>. Our plan is to deliver them to\u00a0<\/span><\/span>our\u00a0<\/span><\/span>vulnerable senior<\/span><\/span>\u00a0clients<\/span><\/span>\u00a0and receive feedback, to see if we\u00a0<\/span><\/span>are ab<\/span><\/span>le<\/span><\/span>\u00a0to<\/span><\/span>\u00a0expand this project further<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Our volunteers\u00a0<\/span>are able to<\/span>\u00a0contribute to this project while sewing masks at home, and they do<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>so with the hope that the recipients will<\/span><\/span>\u00a0benefit from the comfortable and useful items<\/span><\/span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>
