There are a few types of flu vaccines, but most clinics use two types \u2013 Quadrivalent flu vaccine for<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0people from<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a06 month<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">s<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0to 64 years of age, and Trivalent high dose flu vaccine for 65 years and older.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\n<span data-contrast=\"auto\">According to the statistics by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.canada.ca\/en\/public-health\/services\/diseases\/flu-influenza\/health-professionals.html\">Government of Canada<\/a>, <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">every year,\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">approximately 12,200 people are hospitalized, and 3500 people die from influenza infection, making influenza and pneumonia one of the top 10 leading causes of death. C<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">hildren under five and seniors over 65 years of age, as well as people <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">who are\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">suffering\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">from\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">chronic disease such as diabetes, cardiac or pulmonary disorders, and all pregnant women<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0are at high<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">er<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0risk for\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">getting infected with influenza<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0and for\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">developing\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">complications<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">. People who are identified as high risk and their families are especially encouraged to receive the influenza vaccine. <\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\n<span data-contrast=\"auto\">Even a young and healthy person can also develop complications such as pneumonia from influenza infection. Combined with our effort of increasing herd immunity in the community, the influenza vaccine is recommended for young and healthy adults, too. Particularly in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">this year, the increased health risks of double infection from influenza and covid-19 and the increased burden on the healthcare system and community are anticipated. Because the symptoms of Covid-19 and influenza <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">are similar<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, influenza symptoms will be initially suspected as Covid-19 infection, leading to <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">extra\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">burden on the healthcare system, schools, and workplaces.
