Sep 27, 2023, 3:00 \u2013 4:15 pm<\/strong><\/h4>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>(in English &amp; Japanese)<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-18046 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/jss.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/medication.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"260\" height=\"193\" \/><\/p>\n<p>1.25-hour online session (Zoom)\u00a0 to learn about safe medication use will be co-provided by <a href=\"https:\/\/momiji.on.ca\/ja\/%e3%83%9b%e3%83%bc%e3%83%a0\/\">Momiji Health Care Society<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/jss.ca\/en\/\">Japanese Social Services<\/a> (JSS). <strong>*Held both in English and Japanese.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>What is this session about?<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-18049 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/jss.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/medication_2-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"230\" height=\"153\" srcset=\"https:\/\/jss.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/medication_2-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/jss.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/medication_2.jpg 612w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 230px) 100vw, 230px\" \/>\u201cI stopped taking my prescribed medication myself because I feel a lot better now.\u201d \u201cI flushed the expired medications down the toilet.\u201d We hear similar stories from our family and friends and have probably done the same thing once or twice in our lives.<\/p>\n<p>Improper use of medication can compromise our health and safety. Learning about safe medication use helps reduce risks and prevent potential harm, keeping us and our loved ones safe and healthy.<\/p>\n<p>This week\u2019s e-learning seminar will discuss about safe medication use, and will answer questions such as:<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-18051 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/jss.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/mediccation_3-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"242\" height=\"161\" srcset=\"https:\/\/jss.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/mediccation_3-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/jss.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/mediccation_3.jpg 612w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 242px) 100vw, 242px\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Are there medications that I can start, resume, or stop taking without consulting a doctor?<\/li>\n<li>How serious are expiration dates? What should I do with expired medication?<\/li>\n<li>Do I need to consult my doctor if I want to take supplements while on prescription medication?<\/li>\n<li>What are the differences among these medications\u2014Tylenol, aspirin, Advil, and Aleve?<\/li>\n<li>What are the services that a pharmacy offers? What can a pharmacy help me with without consulting a doctor?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Join us and learn more about safe medication use from <strong>Yuka Okada, registered geriatric nurse<\/strong> at <a href=\"https:\/\/momiji.on.ca\/en\/home\/\">Momiji Health Care Society<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>How to Attend<\/h2>\n<p>Anyone interested can attend but pre-registration required. Click the registration button below, and fill and submit it by two days before the session date (Mon, Sep 25). Check your junk box if you can\u2019t find it in your inbox \u2013 Email us if you don\u2019t see it anywhere.<\/p>\n<h3>\u3010Caution!\u3011<\/h3>\n<h4>1.\u00a0Auto-email (to confirm what you filled) right after registration<\/h4>\n<p>You will receive a confirmation email from the system right after you \u201cSubmit\u201d your form (this receipt does not contain the Zoom URL). Make sure to type correct email of yours.\u00a0<strong>If you don\u2019t see it, check your junk folder first<\/strong>, then contact JSS \/ Momiji.<\/p>\n<h4>2.\u00a0Your Zoom display name should be recognizable to the host<\/h4>\n<p>Upon joining, please display your name on Zoom in ways we recognize that you registered. For example, instead of using nicknames or initials, include your first and\/or last (e.g. Hanako Y, H. Yamada, Hanako Yamada) . We may not be able to allow you to enter for security purposes if we can\u2019t recognize your name.
