This time, we will deliver it in an enhanced version, covering frequently asked questions. *The content will mainly focus on Ontario.

What is this session about?

Death is inevitable for everyone. While many hope for a sudden passing while still in good health, the reality in Canada is that approximately 90% of individuals experience a period of requiring long-term care before their death. A 2019 survey conducted by Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour, and Welfare also revealed that despite an average life expectancy in the 80s (81.41 for males and 87.45 for females in 2019), the “healthy life expectancy” – the duration during which individuals can live independently and in good health – is typically in the 70s (72.68 for males and 75.38 for females). In other words, many people go through a period of 10 years or so before death when they are unable to live independently due to health problems or the need for nursing care.

While you may be in good health now, have you considered who will make decisions regarding your finances, care, and living arrangements if you become incapacitated in the future? What are your wishes for after you pass away? In Ontario, there are essential documents to have in place for such circumstances. These documents can only be prepared while you are healthy, and their absence could lead to significant difficulties for both you and your loved ones. Take this opportunity to learn from a specialized lawyer.

In this enhanced version, we will cover frequently asked questions and deliver an upgraded seminar. If you have any questions, please let us know via the registration form up to one week before the event. We aim to address as many questions as possible, considering time constraints (please note that while we provide general legal information, we cannot offer personal legal advice). Additionally, if this is your first time attending this series, we strongly recommend watching the previous seminar to familiarize yourself with the basic information on POA and Will.

Whether you are a senior, a caregiver for seniors, or simply wish to prepare for a secure life in Canada, regardless of age, we encourage you to join us!

※This event will be conducted in Japanese only.

About our Guest Speaker

Presenter : Nozomi (Zoe) Smith, J.D., LL.M., CEA | Lawyer

                   Nakano Smith Law Group

How to Attend

Anyone interested can attend but pre-registration required.
