This fall, JSS will once again host a fundraising event, the <\/span><\/span>June Yamamoto Memorial Walk<\/span><\/span>. This year\u2019s event will be held on the same day as the Volunteer Appreciation Gathering, and light refreshments will be provided after the walkathon. Even if you <\/span>haven\u2019t<\/span> volunteered before, you\u2019re welcome to join either just the walk, or both the walk and the lunch and social gathering. If <\/span>you\u2019d<\/span> like to enjoy the refreshments, please register early.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

This walkathon event began in 2021 in memory of the late <\/span><\/span>Junko (June) Yamamoto<\/span><\/span>, a dedicated volunteer, friend, and supporter of JSS. Ms. Yamamoto, a former JSS board member and the organization’s first Fundraising Committee Chair, continued to support JSS even after stepping down, until her passing. The idea for <\/span>participating<\/span> in an autumn marathon event also came from her.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

Would you like to join us, either in person or from wherever you are, and walk together with us in spirit? Your support is needed to help JSS continue to provide services to more people in our community.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

All donations will be used to fund JSS\u2019s operations. Your participation and contributions will help us continue delivering high-quality services to those in need.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

Event Schedule<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

10:00 AM – 10:30 AM<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/strong>
\nGroup walk participants meet at the JCCC <\/span>Hosaki<\/span> Room for registration and a group photo.<\/span><\/p>\n

10:30 AM – 11:45 AM<\/span><\/span><\/strong>
\nApproximately a one-hour group walk<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>
<\/span>Route<\/span><\/span>: Starting at the JCCC, the route will include the East Don River Trail and last around one hour. There are some hills along the way. The walking speed and route will be adjusted based on participants\u2019 abilities.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Virtual participants are encouraged to walk for one hour on their own and share how many kilometers they walked.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
