On Sunday, November 10, 2024, JSS held the 3rd Annual June Yamamoto Memorial Walk. This fundraising event began in 2021 in memory of the late Ms. Junko (June) Yamamoto, a former JSS board member and passionate supporter of the JSS. Ms. Yamamoto served as JSS\u2019s inaugural fundraising chair and continued to support the organization in various ways even after stepping down, until her passing.<\/p>\n

This year, despite an unfortunate shower during the walkathon, we successfully held the Memorial Walk thanks to everyone\u2019s cooperation.<\/p>\n

The event saw its highest-ever participation, with 39 participants, including Mr. Soichiro (Sam) Yamamoto and Consul General Matsunaga. Together, participants walked and ran a total of<\/strong> 192.5 kilometers<\/strong>! Donations collected before, during, and after the event far exceeded the target goal of $5,000, reaching an impressive total of $13,921<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

We sincerely thank all those who participated in the Memorial Walk and contributed to the event. In particular, we extend our deep gratitude to Mr. Soichiro Yamamoto, who generously donated $10,000 to JSS. We are reminded once again of Ms. Junko Yamamoto\u2019s tireless dedication to JSS and are committed to continuing her legacy by serving the Nikkei community in the GTA.<\/p>\n

The funds raised will be used to support JSS\u2019s operational costs. We are planning more events to strengthen the bonds within Nikkei community. Thank you for your continued support, which allows us to provide high-quality services to an even wider audience.<\/p>\n
