Join us and find a new hobby through this seminar!<\/p>\n<p><strong>*Held in English with Japanese Interpretation<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>What is this session about?<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-20144 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/jss.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Journaling-300x261.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"207\" height=\"180\" srcset=\"https:\/\/jss.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Journaling-300x261.png 300w, https:\/\/jss.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Journaling.png 327w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 207px) 100vw, 207px\" \/><strong>The first part of the seminar is about journaling<\/strong> (In Japanese, it is also referred to as &#8220;writing meditation&#8221;). Using journalism&#8217;s five W&#8217;s\u2014Who, What, Where, When, and Why\u2014the process of transforming our memories and experiences into readable, shareable content, as well as its health benefits, will be explained. We are all unique, and our personal set of memories makes us what we are. We will explore the benefits of pole walking, the equipment needed, and introduce available programs you can join.<\/p>\n<h2>About our Guest Speaker<\/h2>\n<h4><strong>Guest Speaker 1:\u00a0 Brian Mahoney<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Brian is a writer\/photographer in Toronto. Moving from a degree in film and photography, Brian branched off into sales and design plus freelance writing work for an American computer magazine&#8217;s website. Now retired, he keeps busy with volunteer work at Momiji, writing his memoirs and the occasional poem plus keeping up with his social media accounts.<\/p>\n<p><strong>From Brian:<\/strong> Being widowed and retired has left me with plenty of free time. To fill those hours, I&#8217;m back to writing articles on my personal websites as well as volunteering at Momiji. In the near future, I will resurrect my podcast, too. Keeping physically active helps me stay focused.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Guest Speaker 2:\u00a0 Chris Sutarno, M.Sc., R.Kin<\/strong><strong> (<a href=\"https:\/\/communiticare.org\/\">CommunitiCare Health<\/a>)<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Chris Sutarno is a Kinesiologist with <a href=\"https:\/\/communiticare.org\/\">Communiticare Health<\/a> who helps people improve or maintain their health and wellness through better movement. For the past 3 years, he has facilitated the Walk This Way program in High Park in the summer and Dufferin Mall in the Winter.\u00a0 Chris also delivers programs and workshops on Managing Osteoarthritis of the Hip and Knee (GLA:D<sup>TM<\/sup>), Falls Prevention (Strong &amp; Steady), and will be launching a new exercise and education program for people with Osteoporosis (BoneFit<sup>TM<\/sup>\u00a0) later this year.<\/p>\n<h2>How to Attend<\/h2>\n<p>Anyone interested can attend but pre-registration required. For example, instead of using nicknames or initials, include your first and\/or last (e.g. Hanako Y, H. Yamada, Hanako Yamada) . We may not be able to allow you to enter for security purposes if we can\u2019t recognize your name.
