This session will focus on looking beyond the diagnosis and recognizing everyday moments of lightness, connection, and meaning.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Learning Objectives for the Two-Part Series:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Explore looking and living beyond the diagnosis.<\/li>\n<li>Create opportunities for joy and look at the lighter side of caregiving<\/li>\n<li>Evaluate the benefits of humour and having a positive outlook<\/li>\n<li>Assess the strategies and approaches for incorporating joy and humour into caregiving<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>About our Guest Speaker<\/h2>\n<h4><strong>Tsvetty Kolarova<\/strong> (RSW\/BSW), Caregiver Education Coordinator<\/h4>\n<p>Tsvetty (she\/her) is a Registered Social Worker at the Alzheimer Society of Toronto (AST) in the role of Caregiver Education Coordinator. She delivers various education sessions to caregivers in order to raise awareness on Alzheimer\u2019s disease and other related dementias, as well as other dementia topics relevant to caregivers. Prior to working at AST, Tsvetty has worked with many diverse populations over her 6+ years in the field, including seniors, newcomers, people with disabilities, families and children, underemployed communities, students, people with mental heatlh and\/or substance abuse, and people exiting homelessness. She has provided services including counselling, project development and coordination, facilitation of educational workshops, references and referrals, and career counselling. Having been a caregiver to her own grandmother with dementia, Tsvetty has a special connection to working with those impacted by dementia and is passionate about providing education, support, and a safe space for caregivers.<\/p>\n<h4>What is Alzheimer Society Toronto?<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-19497 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/jss.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/alzheimer_society.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"81\" \/><\/h4>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/alz.to\/\">The Alzheimer Society of Toronto<\/a>\u00a0is a registered charity whose mission is to alleviate the personal and social consequences of Alzheimer\u2019s disease and other dementias and to promote research. The society does this by providing information, education and support to the general public, people living with dementia and their caregivers and health care professionals.<\/p>\n<h2>How to Attend<\/h2>\n<p>Anyone interested can attend but pre-registration required. For example, instead of using nicknames or initials, include your first and\/or last (e.g. Hanako Y, H. Yamada, Hanako Yamada) . We may not be able to allow you to enter for security purposes if we can\u2019t recognize your name.
