\"\"The August session of our e-Learning series, co-hosted by Momiji Health Care Society,<\/a>\u00a0Japanese Social Services (JSS)<\/a>, and\u00a0Yee Hong Centre for Geriatric Care\u00a0<\/a> will learn about cancer screening.<\/p>\n

What is this session about?<\/h2>\n

\"\"This presentation provides an overview of cancer, common risk factors, and practical steps individuals can take to reduce their risk. Participants will learn about lifestyle factors associated with cancer prevention, the importance of early detection, and available cancer screening programs in Ontario.<\/p>\n

The session will cover breast, cervical, colorectal, and lung cancer screening, including eligibility criteria, recommended screening intervals, and how to access screening services.<\/p>\n

The goal is to increase awareness and empower community members to make informed decisions about their health.<\/p>\n

About our Guest Speaker<\/h2>\n

Guest Speaker:\u00a0 Suad Abukar, Registered Nurse\uff08Scarborough Centre for Healthy Communities\uff09<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Suad Abukar is a Registered Nurse with over 10 years of experience working in community and public health settings. In her current role with the Preventive Care Team at Scarborough Centre for Healthy Communities<\/a>, she provides health education, promotes cancer screening awareness, and supports community members in accessing preventive health services.<\/p>\n

Suad works closely with diverse populations to improve health literacy and reduce barriers to care through culturally responsive health education and outreach. Her areas of focus include cancer prevention, chronic disease prevention, health promotion, and connecting individuals and families with community resources that support overall well-being.<\/p>\n

She is passionate about empowering communities with the knowledge and tools needed to make informed decisions about their health and to access preventive care services.<\/p>\n

Scarborough Centre for Healthy Communities (SCHC)<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

\"\"SCHC is a non-profit organization founded in 1977 and is one of the most established and comprehensive community health organizations in Ontario. We provide comprehensive, focused health programs and services to improve the holistic overall health and well-being for our community. These include offering primary care, health screenings, supporting mental health, meals-on-wheels, children and youth programs, palliative care, bereavement program, and addressing neighbourhood safety. We work closely with our community members, and foster partnerships with initiatives that address pressing needs while setting new standards of excellence.<\/p>\n

Anyone interested can attend but pre-registration required. Click the registration button below, and fill and submit it before the session date. If you have difficulty using online registration system, feel free to contact the hosting agency.<\/p>\n

Yamada, Hanako Yamada) . We may not be able to allow you to enter for security purposes if we can\u2019t recognize your name. We\u2019ll show you how to change the display name 5 minutes before the session start.<\/p>\n
