UPCOMING EVENT: Movie, Bokemasukara (I Go Gaga, My Dear)
Michelle Chibba, VP Board of Directors
Usually, I will see a movie and then share my thoughts on what I thought of it. This time, I would like to let you know about a movie I am looking forward to seeing. The movie, “I Go Gaga my Dear.” will be shown at the JCCC on Thursday September 26, 2019. I think this movie is particularly relevant to the JSS community. Our programs and services include helping with the elderly, many of whom are experiencing Alzheimer-related issues.
In this movie, Naoko Nobutomo has made a very personal documentary on the everyday routines of her nonagenarian parents in Hiroshima, as her mother struggles with Alzheimer’s-related dementia and her father tries to cope with both his wife’s condition and his own age troubles. The director is said to present a realistic drama, but I think it will also provide an uncannily captivating portrait of those individuals that our JSS programs and services make every effort to support.
