Distraction Thefts
The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of a series of distraction thefts appearing to target older people in 51 Division.
It is reported that:
– the suspect(s) approach people who have just left financial institutions
– the suspect(s) pour a liquid on the person’s clothing and immediately offer to help them
– the theft occurs while the person is distracted and suspect(s) appears to be providing assistance to the them
The Toronto Police Service is asking people to make their family and friends aware of these distraction-theft techniques.
