WATERFRONT MARATHON RUN BY OUR COUNSELLORS

On October 19, 2014, JSS’s counsellors, Mr. Takanori Kuge and Ms. Junko Mifune are running at the Waterfront Marathon among thousands of runners.

JSS RAISES FUNDS AT TORONTO CHALLENGE

JSS raised another large amount of money at this year’s Toronto Challenge thanks to the hard work of Toke Suyama and the generosity of JSS supporter Mits Ito. Although the money is still coming in, the total raised up till July 7 was over $19,000.

SEMINAR FOR SUPPORTING THOSE LIVING WITH DEMENTIA

On the 21st of June a seminar was organized by JSS and Nikka Gakuen for grades 5 to 9 in order to educate participants on dementia and how to provide support for those living with dementia.

JSS HOT LUNCH

The Hot Lunch program started about 15 years ago. At that time, 1stgeneration immigrants (Issei) and Nisei (2nd generation) Japanese at the Wynford Seniors group began finding the preparation of their favourite Japanese foods a little troublesome.

SWEET TEMPTATION: HEALTH EFFECTS OF CHOCOLATE

Sweet chocolate… like an aphrodisiac, makes you feel so happy when you put it in your mouth. It has generated a lot of media coverage because it is believed that cocoa beans contain polyphenol, which is good for your body.
