Traditionally our counselling staff report a drop in activity and appointments over the high summer month of July.

I always open each President’s Message with a line about how busy we are and then follow with a lot of “thanks”. But what can I say, we are busy and I am grateful.

By David Ikeda. Our counsellors reported that they have become busy recently with several cases involving dementia and Alzheimer’s. Given our community’s aging population, a rise in the number of cases involving seniors with either of these illnesses is to be expected. The cases take a lot of time but as I have said before these cases like so many others are why we are here.

It has been an incredibly busy time here over the fall and it’s not even winter yet when we begin preparing the Holiday Drive boxes. For the organization this has been a particularly challenging time.

It is hard to believe that we are starting a new year here at JSS and that I will have completed my first year as president of the organization. The last year was a challenging one for us all here.

It was a busy holiday season at JSS. In the spirit of Christmas and New Years it is a time also for us to give thanks to all of our donors and supporters as well as others who might only be interested in what we do.
